If you are a rising sophomore, junior or senior, you are eligible to apply to participate in the first year of the Global Youth Leadership Class in Chattanooga. The mission of this class is to raise global awareness amongst Chattanooga teenagers. The class will be held one Tuesday of every month from 6 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at Chattanooga State beginning the fall of 2010.
The main focus of the class is a project based activity that involves students working on a product in a team to create a product that they would hypothetically implement in third world countries to improve life. Teams will have to decide on their product together, while taking into account the economic means they would need to create it. Students will learn how to write a grant proposal and then write one based on their own product. Each class will also have a speaker appropriate to the stage where the project should be at the time. During the final class session, each team will present their products to the Global Youth Leadership Board. The Board will then decide on a winning team. This final session will be followed by a graduation ceremony.
